Grey Trousers finished (nearly)

I am pleased to say that I have finished (nearly) my trousers to make up my ensemble for the weekend, and I think the grey works really well with the green jacket.  Excuse the "50 shades of grey" title - its a book that is currently a big hit in the UK and I guess I just couldn't resist using it here - for those of you who don't know this book - just google it.

Sadly my photographer took himself off to London so I didn't have him here to take some picture of the complete outfit, but I did what I could using my cutting table and a mirror photograph of me wearing the trousers.

This is my normal TNT trouser/pant pattern,  McCalls 5239 which I am pleased to say I have gradually adjusted to compensate for my weight loss.

The fabric seems to be a wool blend which I purchased from Walthamstow market, and hangs beautifully.

I decided to add a splash of colour for the inside of the waistband which brightens the whole thing up.

I only need to sew the hem, and add a button and I am done, and I have the rest of the week to do that.

Thank you for your comments on my birthday cards, and birthday wishes to my daughter who really enjoyed her roast beef, as did we all.

Thats all from me I am off to bed.  Catch you later.........................

    1. Thanks Cal - I was lucky that when I purchased the fabric the vendor said that they were originally used for an ensemble that was being sold in a famous brand.

  4. I loved that you picked the gray. It looks wonderful. That would have been my first choice, too.

As far as the book, I know very few people who haven't read on this side of the pond. I work in a library and we have several copies and a standing waiting list of about 70-80 patrons since it and the rest of the trilogy has been published. True story here. The week before it arrived in the library, we had lots of patrons asking for it. Most of the initial readers were lovely ladies in their seventies and eighties and then that group disappeared from the waiting list. We think they may have had a different expectation of "gray".

    1. thanks Bunny - that is a funny story - I confess to having read the book originally because a friend had posted something on FB about how difficult it was for her to purchase a copy as it was being sold out - I hadn't even heard of it at that point.

The book is huge over here in Australia too, I think nearly everyone locally has read it and I see that theres rumours of a film in the works (still wondering how they will do that without a X rating!!)
