Another Wedding to look forward too.

Hi everyone

I am so glad to be out of hospital and in my own bed and home.  I feel tired all the time, and keep having to have little power naps, but in between I am either surfing the net, or answering a couple of work e.mails lol.

However, I digress from my news.  My big sister in Scotland who will be 61 on the 21st March phoned me to tell me that she too had taken the prerogative and proposed to her partner of 7 years last night, and he accepted so they plan to marry at the end of April or the beginning of May this year.

I am so excited for her, having done the same thing myself, however of course as you know my wedding isn't until the 18th May next year and on hearing the news I thought two things.  1. OMG I need to stick to my diet as I only have 8 weeks before her wedding, and 2. will I feel slim enough to sew up my beautiful Linton Tweed Chanel fabric to make a Chanel inspired suit for the wedding.

Here is the beautiful pink tweed with black and silver thread woven into it, together with the lovely black wool.

Having looked at my fellow blogger Bunny's recent posts on her D&G jacket  I want to produce something up to this standard (no pressure mind) so of course I need to make a muslin, and perhaps a test jacket before I cut and make the Linton tweed up.  I have had this fabric for a while, the fabric is beautiful and very precious so I can't take my normal just jump in and get on with it approach, but I want to plan it, prepare it and come out with a knock-off Chanel jacket that I will be proud of.

I have googled a few images and come up with some inspiration here all equally beautiful

I do have some other fabrics, purchased from the market of course, which will be the same weight as the Linton tweed so I am good to go on my test jacket.

So the suit, once made, is sorted (easier said than done) now for shoes and bag.  I would absolutely love a genuine Chanel bag, however they are an arm and a leg to buy, but I do know people who have purchased second hand ones on ebay so worth a look.  My other alternative is my friend who has a couple of these bags, perhaps I can persuade her to lend it to me for the wedding and of course last but not least I could try and make one(now there is a thought)............. I found this link I have no idea what I can do, but I do have a few Vogue bag patterns in my stash so I may even be able to incorporate a few of their techniques into my home made version.

I really don't have time to be ill.  I need to think and plan out these projects - I have been looking at some great work undertaken by fellow bloggers and been meaning to do some real couture work and this is the perfect chance.

Its taken me ages to type this blog post, I am sure I will get quicker, catch you later................

  2. Thanks Mary - I just need my body to catch up with my brain now (if you know what I mean).

Snow, goodness. I have had to close the blinds in the flat here in London because it is really sunny and quite hot. This is crazy weather for the 1st March.

  3. Snowed in here, too, a great day for hunkering down and sewing.

Your fabric is exquisite. I really like the skirt on the middle suit and how the black side panels match up with the trim on the jacket. Looks like that would be very flattering.

Glad you are taking care of yourself and just doing what you feel is OK. Take advantage of the down time to plan and research your gorgeous new jacket. It will be fabulous.

  4. Glad you're feeling a bit better.
    Congratulations to your sister.
I love Linton Tweeds. Their fabric is amazing.
You also have the option to rent a Chanel handbag for the day. A quick internet search will find companies who will do this.

I have heard of these companies who rent out the bags so it is certainly one to think about - I confess while I would love a genuine Chanel bag, I would probably be more afraid of using it too much in case it got lost, damaged or stolen.

yes starting to feel a more human now - just wish it didn't hurt so much when I bend because all my wounds are around the stomach area. Still getting stronger every day.
