Today was our day for the Olympic Torch to run through our little town, and indeed it was passing by the bottom of our road.
Thankfully the weather improved dramatically to greet the torch bearer and there was a good crowd of people who made the effort to wave and cheer the torch on to its next destination.
This was quite an emotional moment.

I clicked on the video and it says it is private.
ReplyDeleteOur son carried the torch when the Olympics were in Calgary back in 1988. Our daughter got to put the torch to bed the night before. It is such an emotional time.
Same when my Dad carried the torch - what makes it emotional I wonder? And at least it had stopped raining....
ReplyDeleteRuth, I don't know the answer to the question, it just was!
DeleteHow lucky the weather was good when the torch passed your village.
ReplyDeleteThe video is marked as private though.
Sigrid - operator error -I have marked the DVD as public now!
DeleteActually. I was wondering last week, if you would get to see the torch. Wonderful. Thanks for the video. I got tears even though I am an ocean away. ---Anita
